We held our annual Jingle Mingle awards ceremony on December 6 and awarded $ $112,315.90 to 24 different organizations throughout the state of Georgia.

Speedway Children’s Charities mission is to care for children in educational, financial, social and medical needs in order to help lead productive lives. The Atlanta chapter was formed in 1994 to raise funds for qualified children’s charitable organizations. To date, SCC Atlanta has distributed over $2.9 million to its charities.

Each year the money is raised in a variety of ways, through events such as the Reeds Sorenson Charity Golf Classic, The Annual Clay Shoot, Memorabilia Auction, Driver Ride A Long Auction and Raffles.

Organizations that received grants for the 2011 fiscal year include: A Friend’s House, Advo-Kids CASA, Arts Clayton, Bert’s Big Adventure, Calvin Center, Camp Kudzu, Camp Sunshine, Carrie Steele-Pitts Home, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, Connecting Henry, CURE Childhood Cancer, FHL Football League, Flint River Council, FOCUS, Foster Care Support Foundation, Haven House, Henry County Parks & Recreation Special Olympics, Henry Medical Center, Honey Creek Youth Ranch, Nacolby’s House, The People First of Henry County, Royal Family Kid’s Camp of Clayton County, Southwest Christian Hospice/Hope House and Project Linus.

Other special awards were given. The Buster Dickerson Award for volunteer of the year was awarded to Ginger Bedell. SCC Atlanta Chapter Director Ginger Moats said, “Ginger Bedell is very deserving of this award. She and her family have been volunteering with SCC for many years. This year, she was there for Thursday Thunder, Friday Night Drags and all of the AdvoCare 500 race week. It is through volunteers like Ginger that enables SCC to continue our mission.”

Also, SCC Atlanta Chapter Director Ginger Moats was awarded a signed commendation by Governor Nathan Deal for her work with SCC and her community involvement.

SCC Atlanta Chapter gives special thanks for the Jingle Mingle event to AngusBest.com, Bruster’s of Griffin and Wrecker 1. Thank you for making a difference.
