Henry County Parks and Recreation Special Olympics Program has grown over the last several years, to include over 200 athletes, and Unified Partners. Our program allows many athletes opportunities that they would never be able to experience. It has increased the self esteem, and well being of our athletes. It isn't about the medals they wear around their necks, but the smiles that tell the story. They always want to know where we are going next and when does practice start. We participate in 7 Special Olympics Georgia State Games, and practice year round for each one. Amazingly, we have athletes that can sail on a HOBE Sail Boat, and come down the longest trail Snow skiing. It may surprise many but not the staff and volunteers that work with each of these athletes. Our biggest goal in our department is making a difference in the lives of our athlete's everyday, and we could not do that without the support from the Atlanta Motor Speedway Children's Charities. The organization continues to help us make a difference, and we are proud and very thankful for all you do, to help children around the world.
