Reed Sorenson Golf Tourney Returns for 2009 to Benefit Speedway Children's Charities
The annual Reed Sorenson Charity Golf Tournament presented by AutoTrader.com will return to Eagle's Landing Country Club on Friday, Sept. 4, giving race fans the opportunity to golf and mingle with NASCAR notables and support local children's organizations.
The Reed Sorenson Charity Golf Tournament presented by AutoTrader.com will kick off the Pep Boys Auto 500 Sprint Cup race weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway and will also begin a weekend of charitable fundraising events benefiting Speedway Children's Charities.
"Speedway Children's Charities has put this event together for the third time this year and I hope we can raise funds and awareness for the children in the Atlanta area," said Sorenson, a native of Peachtree City. "Please come and join us for a great game of golf, good food and the company of our friends and business associates to benefit one of my favorite charities."
In addition to Sorenson playing host, NASCAR Sprint Cup drivers Juan Pablo Montoya and Kasey Kahne will attend the event, along with Fox racing analyst Larry McReynolds, SPEED pit lane reporter Bob Dillner and SPEED analyst Rutledge Wood, among others.
Registration begins at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by a shotgun start at noon. Entry for individual players starts at $250.00 and foursomes begin at $800.00. Sponsorship opportunities are also available by contacting Birindelli at email@example.com.
A box lunch will be provided and a rewards reception, silent auction, dinner and entertainment will follow the conclusion of play.
Located in Stockbridge just 20 minutes south of Atlanta, Eagle's Landing Country Club features a challenging 27-hole layout and a remarkable 51,000-foot plantation-style clubhouse. Originally designed with 18 holes in the 1980's by distinguished course architect Tom Fazio, Eagle's Landing was recently renovated in 2008, adding nine additional holes and Bent Grass greens.
Speedway Children's Charities was founded in 1982 by Bruton Smith, Chairman of Speedway Motorsports, Inc. and Sonic Automotive. After a personal loss, Smith wanted to give back to children and the community, creating Speedway Children's Charities to provide funds to charities that meet the direct needs of children. SCC best affects children's lives by supporting organizations that work tirelessly to see that children's needs are met and that no child is left behind regardless of illness, social environment or disability.
Thanks to the generosity of many supporters, the Atlanta Chapter was able to distribute nearly $245,000 to 28 local charities at its annual grant ceremony in December, 2008.
