When watching a NASCAR race, it is quite apparent that a driver is only as good as his pit crew. Without their help and support, crossing the finish line first is not possible. When planning a VIP trip to Walt Disney World for children with life threatening illnesses and their families, Bert's Big Adventure's could not make it happen without its pit crew, dedicated and generous sponsors that include Speedway Children's Charities.

This past year, Bert's Big Adventure, founded in 2002 by Q100 FM radio personality, Bert Weiss and his wife Stacey, has greatly benefited from the grant awarded to them by Speedway Children's Charities. The donation supported special events planned during the 5 day, 4 night adventure in Orlando, Florida. Families whose child has a chronic or terminal illness, living in "The Bert Show" listening area, who have proven financial need can apply for the annual trip. Everything is provided for these families - a chartered flight, deluxe accommodations, park tickets, transportation and meals. They are able to put aside thoughts of doctor's visits, treatments and therapies, and can enjoy quality time together in the most magical place on earth.

The partnership between these two organizations continues to grow stronger. New in 2008, Speedway Children's Charities will host Bert's Big Adventure Holiday Party in December. Families from past trips will be invited to attend an afternoon of holiday cheer at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Several children's activities are being planned as well as activities unique to the speedway: track rides, a peek in the garage and pit row, and so much more.

Speedway Children's Charities and Bert's Big Adventure - together making a difference for metro Atlanta kids!
