Every Thursday night, thousands of fans from around Atlanta flock to Atlanta Motor Speedway's Thursday Thunder, a 10-week summer racing series. At just $5 for adults and $1 for children, it's one of the most affordable family activities in all of Atlanta. But it's also so much more for all of the fans at Thursday Thunder, there is also the chance to give back to the community - and to win a little green for themselves. Speedway Children's Charities and their recipient organizations provide volunteers that don the special blue SCC aprons and blanket the grandstands and infield with their buckets, selling raffle tickets for $1 each. The person holding the winning ticket receives 50% of the pot, and the remaining 50% goes to the Atlanta chapter of the Speedway Children's Charities. Last year even though the racing series was cancelled due to massive tornado damage to the Atlanta Motor Speedway, this raffle raised an additional $2,500 for the chapter, resulting in even more children being helped.
